THE IMPORTANCE OF PLANNING APPROPRIATELY A CITRUS CAMPAIGN
Planning is the most important stage in the organization of a campaign at GAMBÍN. The three summer months have already passed during which the company's management team has analysed the results of the previous campaign and they have already planned to the last detail the necessary adjustments and requirements of the next one.
Planning when working with crops and their rotations is essential to achieve a good production result. To estimate fittingly gaps according to specific varieties, quality levels and distribution strategies must ensure supply and will respond to the commercial demand.
The staff in charge of our crops, harvesting, transport and packing at the productive sites must calculate the number of workers and working hours needed during the campaign. To project these necessary resources requires experience when planning, this in order to reach an adequate and subsequent management of work forces.
Furthermore, we cannot forget the suppliers of consumables, containers, phytosanitary products, etc. All of them have to be constantly evaluated on the quality of their products and services provided. A suitable assessment will lead to the proper corrections and adjustments needed throughout the campaigns.
Every start of a campaign requires homework to be done. We have to study together with our client portfolio, figuring out the right volume of products, reviewing their specific product specifications. It allows us to focus on a specific work schedule with each of them.
As the campaign has now already started, the GAMBIN management team goes to great lengths to ensure, on a daily basis, monitoring and control of overall operations to reproduce the established road map.
